What is Ehsaas Kafalat
The Department of Social Welfare & Development (DSWD) launched a two-pronged assistance program that provides education, health, livelihood assistance, shelter and other benefits to members of vulnerable families identified by local government units (LGUs).
One prong is called The Mother Child Education Project (Ehsaas) which aims to provide scholarships to children who are deprived of opportunities.
While under scholarship, these children should be enrolled in public elementary schools. However, what happens when a child gets sick or has an accident?
What happens if they cannot go home every night because they don’t have a home? What happens if their guardian doesn’t live close enough? These scenarios are part of reality for many learners across our country. To address these issues, DSWD introduced Kafalat – a program that helps students from disadvantaged households with food, clothing and school supplies.
It also provides temporary shelter for homeless students during emergencies like typhoons or floods. There are currently 8,895 scholars enrolled in 672 schools all over the Philippines through DSWD’s Ehsaas Kafalat Program. You can help out too! Here's
Complete details about program
The Ehsaas kafalt program is a Job Opportunities in Industrial Enterprises (JOIE) initiative by NITI Aayog. Its aim is to improve efficiency of Central Sector Enterprises (CSEs), Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs) and other industrial companies.
It provides a platform for applicants from all parts of India with expertise in areas like quality control, maintenance etc.
The program commenced on 25 May 2018, when it was announced as part of National Digital Initiative and Startup India action plan in 2017-18 Budget proposal, but rolled out officially on 1 June 2018.
It will allow entrepreneurs who are unable to get jobs due to lack of formal certification an opportunity at employment. At present, there are more than 2 lakh candidates across India registered under the scheme.
They will be trained and certified by state government bodies or PSUs before being hired by CSEs, PSUs or other industrial companies. Through training programs conducted under JOIE scheme, these candidates will be given skills necessary to work in factories and industries of their choice.
In addition to vocational training, they would also receive industry exposure during their period of training through visits to various factories/companies which would help them decide about their future career options once they complete their training period successfully. Thereafter they can work in any factory/company that has been registered under JOIE scheme which includes both public sector undertakings as well as private sector enterprises. Successful candidates will be paid a monthly stipend of Rs. 20,000/- per month throughout their training period and subsequently Rs. 30,000/- per month upon joining any enterprise that has been registered under JOIE scheme.
Their skill development training fee will also be reimbursed by their employers after successful completion of one year’s continuous service along with one time joining bonus worth Rs.14000 /-. Apart from above benefits, candidates will also be provided accommodation and food allowance while undergoing training period.
This is a great opportunity for youth who have received no formal education or have not been able to secure employment because of lack of requisite credentials/certificates.
These youth can now avail benefits under Ehsaas kafalt program without worrying about financial constraints since their fees would be borne by government itself via its initiative ‘National digital literacy mission’ launched in 2015-16 budget.
This mission aims at providing e-literacy facility to citizens across India so that they may take advantage of latest technological developments and contribute towards nation building process.
Who can apply?
It's a given that having more children is expensive, but parents may not realize just how much of their income goes to raising kids.
Parents with multiple children spend on average about 10 percent of their gross income on their kids each year (not including housing costs), according to TODAY Moms. For families who have more than one child in college at a time, those costs can really add up.
Fortunately, there are financial aid options that recognize these expenses when determining how much you should pay out-of-pocket. Parents with dependents will want to consider taking advantage of Pennsylvania State University's Ehsaas Kafalat program — available to both full-time and part-time students.
The program offers grants to help defray day care and transportation costs as well as other educational expenses. Here's how it works:
The grant awards $6,000 per dependent per academic year toward day care or transportation needs. Awards are based on your family size and adjusted gross income. The application process is relatively simple:
You'll need your most recent tax return and must be enrolled at least half-time in an undergraduate degree program or graduate certificate program online or on campus. Applications open Oct.
1 and close Feb. 28 of each year.
The maximum award amount is $3,200 per child; however, there's no limit to how many children you can have — as long as they're under age 26 — so it could be possible to receive multiple grants during a single academic year. For example, if you have three children who qualify for funding, you could receive up to $12,400 total (three x $3,200).
This makes it possible for parents of multiple college students to help defray some of their costs without taking out student loans or putting themselves in debt.
