A quick overview
The government of Pakistan, under Prime Minister Imran Khan, has released its vision document, known as Vision Pakistan. The plan includes an update on the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) which was launched in 2008 by then-President General Pervez Musharraf.
BISP is a cash transfer programme that provides the poorest and most vulnerable Pakistanis with financial assistance of approximately US$10 per month. With this additional income households are able to meet their basic needs such as food, clothing and shelter; allowing them to focus on work opportunities or skills training for higher earnings.
